Ding and Dang Canyons

We are going to be doing some semi-technical canyoneering down at the San Rafael Swell. This trail is beautiful and FUN. Seriously, check it out online. There are some tricky areas that require a little bit athleticism and creativity.
This is a hike for intermediate/advanced hikers. If you are afraid of jumping off 4 foot ledges or do not have the upper body strength then this is not the hike for you. There is a twenty foot ledge but there is a "permanent" rope in place if you need it. The only way out is to go through it once you start. So make sure you are up to the challenge. Remember if you are not and you come you endanger not only yourself but those around you. It is also located right outside of Goblin Valley so we can stop by there on our way out if we want to.
If a group of beginners would like to go you are welcome to do Little Wild Horse and Bell Canyon. This is also a very beautiful hike with all kinds of narrows, its just not technical.
So this is the plan. We will meet at 7:00pm at thePark and Ride off I-15 and 12300 S. We will arrive at the trail head around 11:00pm set up camp, sleep, and then get up and go in the morning. It is free to sleep at the trail head (yey!) I have done this down there a few times and it has always been a good time. We can be back by 6 pm Saturday- it all depends on if we play in Goblin Valley.
Be sure to bring…
Enough food to cover all your meals (Breakfast, lunch, snacks, and possibly dinner)
Bring plenty of water, there is none in the canyon
a good sleeping bag and sleeping pad- it will be cold during the night
sun protection - it gets pretty warm during the day
We will split the cost of gas and the entrance fee if we go into Goblin Valley.
