This meetup is for parents and kids ages 8 and up to tour the SF Maritime museum, Balcutha and other ships. If your child is younger and you think they would enjoy it please let me know.
We will take a guided tour of the Full-Rigged Ship, The Balclutha. The tour is 1-1hr 15. min long. We can tour the rest of the national park on our own and see the other ships. If interested we can as the guide to also give us a tour of the Eureka ship. (about 20 min tour).
Tour starts promptly at 9:45…we will meet and greet at 9:30 AM at the Ticket Booth. You enter Hyde Street at the intersection of Hyde and Jefferson. Walk half way down the pier at Hyde street to the ticket booth.
COST: $5.00 for those over 16 years for a boarding pass.
PARKING: Many metered spaces which take a lot of quarters will probably be taken by then, but you may find some 4 hour meters along Jefferson. (but you will have to keep putting quarters in). The tour guide recommended parking at Fort Mason, which is about a 12 minute walk from the Pier. Enter Fort Mason Parking (FREE) at Bay & Franklin. Walk to Hyde Street and go east towards warf.
LUNCH: 2 blocks from the Pier is a kid friendly fun diner, called Lori’s Diner. We will go ther for lunch after the morning tour.

A little about the Balcutha…and relevant websites.
The 256-foot Full-Rigged Ship Balclutha was built in 1886. Owned by SFMNHP. Based at San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park.
San Francisco’s most prominent tall ship, permanently berthed at the Hyde Street pier. Originally built for the Britain-California grain trade, Balclutha switched to salmon fishing in 1902 and was renamed Star of Alaska in 1906. While she hasn’t sailed in decades, at least she’s still afloat–the only sailing ship of her size remaining on San Francisco Bay.
