This event is full. If you want to be on the waitlist, just respond "No" and specify "waitlist" plus the number of children in your comment.
Does your child enjoy playing board games? We’d like to facilitate an intimate family evening of play and learning for our board game fans!
Ideally, your child(ren) need to have long enough attention spans to participate in playing a board game from start to finish. We’ll have one or two tables set up with games for ages 8+ (including parents of course). We could also set up a table for ages 6+ if you think they can stay awake and alert for this.
We’ll start with a round of games at 5pm, then break for dinner. Please bring something to eat (sharing is encouraged) or bring cash for ordering pizza. I will provide beverages, cups & plates, and some healthy snacks. We will then continue playing until 9pm. Preference will be given to those who think they can stay until the end.
Below is a list of some of the games we have at home. They are mostly European and have the advantages of not taking too long to learn or to play. Feel free to bring one or two of your own favorites (for more than two players and with less than two hours playing time), but be prepared that we may not be able to play any or all of them. We’ll have to work out some kind of democratic process of choosing games when we meet.
Carcassonne (2-6 players age 8+)
Ticket to Ride (2-5 8+)
Whoonu (3-6 8+)
Six Cubes (2-6 10+)
Face-it (2-4 5+)
Chicken Cha Cha Cha (2-4 4+)
Card games:
Coloretto (2-5 8+)
Rage (2-8 8+)
Frog Juice (2-4 8+)
Apples to Apples Jr (4-10 7+)
… plus a few more.
- When you respond, please indicate:
- Your children’s ages
- Your favorite game(s), and if you’re bringing any
- Your dinner plans (pizza / own food / food to share)
I’m asking for a voluntary contribution of $1 per adult towards the organizer’s fees for running the group. Also, please keep your signup up-to-date, especially if you find later that you can’t make it. I will send out an email to participants with my address and phone number.
This will be great fun, for young & old, winners & losers alike!
