Wade Oval Wednesday Concert and Movie

We’ve had two fun evenings here this summer, so I thought we’d do it one last time before the series ends, this time with a little something extra for your entertainment.
What started out as a small Wednesday evening concert series has grown into a weekly “party in the park.” More than 10,000 visitors each summer bring their families, friends, blankets, and lawn chairs to dance, relax, and enjoy music at WOW! Wade Oval Wednesdays. This one-of-a-kind concert-going experience combines the outdoor charm of Wade Oval University Circle with the excitement of live music. (Wade Oval is the large park area surrounded by attractions like the Cleveland Museum of Art, Natural History Museum and Botanical Garden.)
On August 18, the featured act is "Heart and Soul," a popular dance band playing everything from Motown and disco to 80s pop to the hits of today. In 2009, the band was voted a "Top 5" winner for best local band in a Fox8 poll. Bring your dancing shoes! The event is free; food and drink will be available for purchase, or you can bring your own snacks. Note: You CAN bring your own alcohol into the park. As long as you behave yourselves and don’t take open containers outside of the park, you won’t have any trouble. Seating is available or you can bring blankets or lawn chairs. Join us after work for a casual night of live music with old and new friends. If you have children, they are welcome at this event.
Now for something extra: After the band ends and the sun goes down (around 9 pm.) they will be showing the movie Raiders of the Lost Ark right there in the park. You don’t have to stay for the movie if you don’t want to; come for as long as you wish.
Depending on the size of the crowd, parking can be a challenge. If you arrive early enough, I’d recommend getting a spot in the Natural History Museum’s lot. They are located right across the street from where the festivities will occur and they offer a $3.00 flat rate for the evening. Check here for parking info and other options.
This is an outdoor event and so could be affected by the weather. But there’s a large tent set up on the grounds for shelter and the art museum is open late and is free, so we have other options for getting together.
