Ceramics Class, 3 Tuesdays in March

Our first ceramics class was a lot of fun, so here’s another chance to build and sculpt with clay! This 3-day class will allow you to make at least one complete ceramic piece, possibly two depending on how large your pieces are. Each class will be two hours long, from 6:30-8:30 pm. on Tuesday evenings. The dates are as follows: March 16, 23, 30.
Create functional or decorative pieces: candle holders, mugs, vases, plates, decorative tiles, bowls…..the possibilities are endless! You’ll be hand building your pieces using slab, coil or pinching techniques. Samples and demonstrations will show you the range of possibilities.
This class will be different from the workshops in several ways. First, in order to allow for drying/firing time, the class needs to meet more than once. Over the course of 3 classes, you’ll be building, the pieces will dry and be fired, you’ll be glazing them and then they’ll need to be fired again. For those of you that aren’t familiar with clay, glaze is the liquid material you’ll coat the pieces with after the first firing. The glazes come in different colors and when fired, actually become glossy and beautifully bright in color.

RSVP: A few other differences include timing and pricing. Since I need to provide all supplies for you, you will be required to pay when RSVPing, by sending a check to St. Thomas (I’ll provide details when you RSVP). I’ll also need definite "yes" RSVPs because once I order the materials, I can’t return them. So please be sure before you RSVP; this won’t be the kind of meetup where you can cancel the day of. Generally speaking, no refunds will be given unless the class is canceled so again, please be sure before you RSVP. If I don’t get enough people to sign up, I won’t be able to hold the class.
Pricing: Since we’re meeting 3 times, and clay and glazes are costly, this class will cost more than the one-day workshops. However, I am doing my best to keep the prices as low as possible for you. The overall cost of the class will be $55 – this includes everything.
