MFA First Friday
I’ve been hearing about the MFA’s First Friday for years now, but finally went last month. I loved it and am eagerly awaiting the next one in March. Art, drinks, live music, and a gallery packed full of fun people; what could be better? Come check it out.
The music begins at 5:30 and then winds down again at 9:30. Admission is the usual $20 unless you’re a member. It’s a popular event, so expect a line at the ticket desk. Once you have your ticket, check your coat and come find the rest of the group. The whole museum is open for exploring, but I’ll be sure to spend my first hour upstairs in the rotunda — 6:30 to 7:30. Having trouble finding us? Then send me a text; 617-852-3133. Oh, and be careful not to get in too late — apparently there’s a limited number of tickets for the First Friday party upstairs and sometimes they run out.
The live music is just off the rotunda in the Koch Gallery (labeled on the MFA maps as "European Old Master Paintings"). Depending on the size of our group, we may split into smaller groups to explore the museum. We’ll gather again in the rotunda at 9:00 and maybe come up with a plan to continue the socializing at another area venue. If I discover a plan before then, I’ll be sure to update the event listing.
